Lamai Koh Samui
Southeast of the island is Lamai Koh Samui. Chaweng Noi to the north and Hua Thanon to the south. Conveniently placed for visiting attractions on the island. The beach at Lamai Koh Samui has soft sand areas and rocky parts. Great photo opportunities from the cluster of rocks at the far end. The ocean is not too clear but it is a great place for a swim in the central area and the children to play on the shore. North part of Lamai beach is prone to mud flats at low tide. Oceans can have undercurrents so observe the flags and only swim if it is safe to do so. The beach is long enough to escape from the noise if you prefer a laid-back scene. Shopping in Lamai Koh Samui is a treat. Walking Street Market is located between the fish market and the bridge. The main road is a crossroads crammed with shops bars tour offices and restaurants. Proprietors sell everything you can expect from the island’s second biggest area in Koh Samui. Sunday evening is Market night. The night market is one to be rivalled in Samui. Roads are closed to traffic. Two streets form the market with fire performers and entertainers at the heart. One street dedicated to food and drink the other to clothes crafts and souvenirs. Named brand clothes are not authentic but very good copies. Haggle when you shop it is expected and part of the fun chatting with the local vendors.
Traditional Thai and International food line the streets of Lamai. Cafes dotted around to serve their own specialities of the day.
